#utv - BT Special: How to use the UTV Client Installation of the UTV Client 4.0 The installation of the client is quite easy. First, get the client from here or trigger !sendutv in #utv. Then extract utv.u and utv.int to your system directory. Please delete any older version of UTV before you do so. Connecting to a UTV server To connect to a server, click Mod and then UTV4.0 w/ ZP Support. You will now see a new window where you can chose from a few options. In order to watch a game, you’ll only need the Watch tab. Usually you should have two information about the server you’d like to connect to: IP and port. If you try to connect to a server on the standard port (23812) then you don’t need to specify it, the IP or hostname will do it anyway. Please refer to the screenshots if you’re not sure how and where to enter the server’s IP or if you’re not sure how and where to enter the server’s IP and port. ![]() ![]() You don’t really need to bother about all the other options, but a little explenation anyway: If UTV is lagging for you, then you may change the Buffer time. The option UTV status specifies how many information about UTV will be shown (please refer to #1 on the screenshot below to see what it does. You’ll see an example of the full status there). Usually it’s a good idea to have the Onscreen scoreboard on as you’ll have all important information about the players in a nice little table and you’ll also be able to see who’s speccing the game (please refer to #2 and #3 on the screenshot below to see what those options do). You can also separate the UTV chat from the other chat (please refer to #4 on the screenshot below to see what those options do). Last but not least you can toggle displaying the efficiency on and off. It will be displayed on the player table (please refer to #2 on the screenshot below to see what this option does). ![]() Important notes on BT matches with UTV There are quite a few issues with UTV and BT, but most of them are easy to prevent. First important point is that you shouldn't have the BT mutator in your Cache directory but in your system directory where it belongs. If you have the files only in cache, UT may crash on connecting to the UTV server. Second thing is about maps. Most of you already know that BT maps are actually named BT-[mapname]. But on some servers they're renamed to CTF-BT-[mapname]. So please make sure you're maps are named properly and tagged the same as on the server the broadcasted match takes place on. If you want to be sure about this it's best to have the map twice, once with leading CTF- and once without. |
